New features for all users
Playlist folders on mobile
Spotify announced that playlist folders are now supported on mobile devices. Previously only available on desktop, folders let you group playlists by genre, mood, or any categorization you prefer, making it easier to organize large libraries.
Batch‑edit playlists
You can now select multiple tracks and edit them in bulk—removing, rearranging, or moving songs across playlists in one action. This works for music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Both playlist folders and bulk‑edit actions are available globally to all Spotify users.
Premium‑exclusive features
- Bulk edit the Now Playing queue – Re‑add the ability to edit multiple songs in the queue at once.
- Background downloads on iPhone – Songs, playlists, podcast episodes, and more continue downloading even when the app is closed, with notifications to track progress.
- Reshuffle button – A one‑tap button to reshuffle the current playback order, faster than toggling the shuffle switch off and on.
These features are live for all Spotify Premium subscribers. Ensure your app is updated to the latest version to access them.
