Arrival Notifications
Ahead of Safer Internet Day (Feb. 10), Snapchat launched a new feature to help users feel safer while out and about.
Users can now turn on Arrival Notifications to alert their contacts when they’ve reached a destination—similar to Apple’s Find My location alerts, but designed for Snap Map users. More than 400 million users visit the Snap Map each month.
The arrival alerts can be set for a single trip, a 24‑hour period, or on a recurring basis for repeated trips beyond the user’s home. Location data is only sent to friends the user chooses to share with, and public Snap Map location sharing remains off by default.
How to enable Arrival Notifications
- Tap a friend’s profile.
- Select View Friendship.
- Enable Arrival Notifications.
Users can customize the precise location and the name shown in the alert.

Background
Snapchat previously added location alerts for parents monitoring teen users in 2024. When enabled, the app notifies parents when their child’s location changes on the Snap Map, and parents can request the child’s location at any time. The platform also introduced new parental‑control features in January following a settlement in a social‑media‑addiction lawsuit that also involved TikTok, Google, and Meta.
