Tinder introduces orb verification for free boosts
Tinder users who prove they’re a real person by visiting an identity‑verifying orb will soon be able to claim five free boosts in the app. This is the latest service to adopt the orb technology.
The orb is provided by World, a company co‑founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. World initially tested Tinder verification using its facial‑scanning orbs in a pilot program in Japan last year and is now expanding the service to “select markets, including Japan and the United States.”
How the verification works
- Users must physically visit one of World’s orbs.
- The orb captures images of the user’s face and eyes.
- The data is encrypted and used to confirm that the user is not a bot or an AI agent.
What users get
- Five free Tinder boosts after successful verification.
