If you were unaware, Mobile World Congress—one of the largest annual mobile trade shows—was held in Barcelona, Spain, this week. While at the event, Jay Kim, Samsung’s EVP of Mobile, revealed information about the upcoming smart glasses to CNBC.

• Camera: According to Kim, the device will have a built‑in camera that sits at “your eye‑level.” Earlier leaks (source) suggested this could be a 12 MP Sony IMX681 CMOS sensor.
• Phone Connectivity: Kim also mentioned that the glasses will be connected to your phone, offloading camera data processing to the handset.

Display Question

Another interesting tidbit from the interview focused on whether there would be built‑in displays, like on Meta’s Ray‑Ban Display Glasses. When asked about the possibility, Kim declined to confirm or deny. However, he added that Samsung has other products if users need a display, which suggests the current device may not include built‑in displays.

Release Timeline

Regarding a release, Kim says Samsung is aiming “to have something for industry this year.” This aligns with what EVP of Mobile Experiences Seong Cho said during Samsung’s Q4 2025 earnings call (source). Samsung has not yet announced a specific launch date for the device in 2026.
