Source: Android Authority

TL;DR
- One UI 8.5 could bring 24‑bit audio recording for Bluetooth devices.
- The feature is powered by a new system utility called Advanced Audio, spotted in One UI 8.5.
- Initially it supports the DJI Mic series, with broader support expected after launch.
Audio upgrade in One UI 8.5
One UI 8.5 will be a major highlight at Samsung’s Unpacked event, where the Galaxy S26 series is also expected to debut. Beyond a visual refresh, the update brings several under‑the‑hood improvements, including a new capability for higher‑quality audio recording.
According to a tip from Galaxy Techie on X, Samsung is adding a system utility app named Advanced Audio that enables 24‑bit audio capture from wireless sources connected via Bluetooth. Current Bluetooth audio input is limited to 16‑bit, so this upgrade should also improve video recording on supported devices.
Supported microphones
The utility currently supports microphones from select brands, notably DJI. The following DJI models are confirmed:
- DJI Mic 2
- DJI Mic 3
- DJI Mic Mini
- DJI Mic Mini 2 (yet to be released)
These microphones can be used without the receiver, which is handy for on‑the‑go shoots. It remains unclear whether Samsung’s own audio accessories—such as the upcoming Galaxy Buds 4 series—will be compatible, although Samsung’s Seamless Codec does support 24‑bit audio transfer.
Dual‑mic recording and controls
Advanced Audio also allows recording from two microphones simultaneously, a feature that could make Galaxy smartphones and tablets more appealing for podcasts, livestreaming, and filmmaking. Users will have access to gain and noise‑cancellation adjustments, which are normally handled via physical dials on the microphone receivers.
The tipster mentioned “quick adjustments” accessible from the Now Bar and a live‑update pill next to the front camera, though the exact controls these refer to have not been confirmed.
Early access
An APK of the feature has been shared publicly. It can be launched with the Activity Launcher app from the Play Store:
- APK folder:
- Activity Launcher:
The current APK works only with the DJI Mic 3 and does not support the other listed models.
Open questions
- Will the feature be limited to flagship devices, or will it roll out to all One UI 8.5‑compatible phones and tablets?
- How extensive will the microphone brand support be after the official launch?
We’ll have more details once Samsung unveils One UI 8.5 at the event.
