The GeForce RTX 5070 is one of the best graphics cards for gaming, and the mobile version isn’t far behind. Nvidia’s initial decision to reduce the memory capacity of the mobile variant disappointed many gamers and raised concerns amid a landscape where many games use more than 8 GB. However, multiple manufacturer listings (via Huang514613) indicate an unannounced GeForce RTX 5070 Mobile SKU with 12 GB of GDDR7, matching the desktop version and ensuring mobile gamers have access to the same capacity.

Recent listings

  • Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i Aura Edition (Panther Lake‑powered) is listed with “Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 12 GB GDDR7 and DLSS 4.”
  • Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2026 (GU405AP‑SY022X) advertises a “NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12 GB GDDR7.”
  • Newegg listings for the Asus ROG Strix G16 and G18 both show “Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12 GB GDDR7” under graphics card, though the video‑memory spec incorrectly lists 8 GB.
  • Best Buy’s HP Omen listing also notes an RTX 5070 laptop GPU with 12 GB of VRAM.

Neither Lenovo nor Asus has disclosed detailed specifications beyond the memory capacity boost. While the core specs are expected to remain similar to the 8 GB variant, the larger memory pool may lead to a modest increase in TDP.

Comparison with AMD mobile GPUs

AMD’s RDNA 4 mobile GPUs have not yet launched. The current RDNA 3 lineup includes the Radeon RX 7900M (16 GB GDDR6) and Radeon RX 7800M (12 GB GDDR6). With its restored 12 GB memory, the RTX 5070 Mobile matches the RX 7800M in capacity but still trails the RX 7900M.

Market context

8 GB graphics cards are already struggling with modern games, and a gradual shift toward 12 GB (now 15.22 % of Steam users) and 16 GB (18.26 %) is evident. Despite the ongoing global memory shortage, Nvidia’s decision to upgrade the RTX 5070 Mobile’s VRAM suggests preparation for future mobile GPU generations, potentially including a mobile RDNA 4‑era.
