Overview

Meta is now using employee activity on work computers to train its AI agents. According to Reuters, the company is deploying a tool called Model Capability Initiative (MCI) on the computers of U.S.-based staff. The tool runs within work‑related applications and websites, capturing mouse movements, clicks, keystrokes, and occasional screenshots.

Purpose

The data collected by MCI will be fed into Meta’s AI models to improve their ability to interact with computers in the same way humans do. This includes automating routine work tasks that Meta employees currently perform. Reuters notes that the information gathered will not be used for performance assessments of individual employees.
