Nintendo Switch 2 officially gets a $50 price hike in the US

Price Increase Details
Nintendo announced in a press release that the console’s price will rise in every major region, including the United States. In the U.S., the price will go from $449 to $499, a $50 increase.
Reason for the Increase
The company cited “changes in market conditions” but did not provide specifics. The hike is widely believed to be a response to the global memory shortage driven by high demand for AI data‑center construction, the same factor behind recent price hikes for PlayStation 5 consoles and Motorola phones. Video‑game consoles rarely increase in price over time; the Switch 2’s hike less than a year after its June 2025 launch is unusually early.
Deadline
Nintendo said the new pricing takes effect on September 1, 2026. If you want to purchase a Switch 2 at the current $449 price, you’ll need to act before that date.
