Getting Started
I’ve always wanted to learn how to code, so in 2024 I got a job that allowed me to save up enough money to buy myself a PC (it was my friend’s PC). It was literally the best experience of my life, and I spent countless hours on YouTube watching every web development video I could find.
Learning Journey
I progressed to downloading tutorials from a particular source 🌚. I enjoyed the tutorials until I reached a point where I was struggling to keep up with the lecture videos. Eventually I finished a course on HTML and CSS and thought that was it—I had learned how to code.
That narrative changed when I actually sat down to build a project on my own without any tutorial. That’s when I realized I still have a long way to go.
Challenges and Progress
I decided to take up coding challenges from Frontend Mentor (a site with frontend projects) to reinforce my learning with HTML and CSS. I quickly saw the extent of my limits; it was both frustrating and annoying.
Going back to the basics helped me attempt a few challenges, and I was happy to see tiny improvements. Right now I’ve built up to 8 Frontend Mentor projects, and I don’t intend to stop there.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m going to look back at this one day and think, “Wow! I’ve made progress.”
