Musical adventure game Mixtape will be ready to rock out on May 7

Release Information

The musical coming‑of‑age game Mixtape is set to launch on May 7, 2026. It will be available on the usual current‑generation platforms: Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The title was originally revealed with a target release in 2025 — see the Engadget reveal article — but the launch window was later shifted to the new date.

Development

Johnny Galvatron, the game’s director, discussed the challenge of portraying teenage idleness in a video‑game format in a recent interview with Engadget. He explained:

“Idleness is hard to explore as a video game, and one of the interesting things about being a teenager is you just hang out a lot, and sometimes it just sucks. So I love that we made a game that shows that idleness.”

Soundtrack

As the name suggests, Mixtape places its soundtrack at the core of the experience. The game follows three friends at the end of high school, and players can expect tracks from iconic punk and alternative artists such as DEVO, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Smashing Pumpkins, and Iggy Pop.
