Motorola Razr Fold hands‑on at MWC 2026

At MWC 2026, Motorola revealed details about the upcoming Motorola Razr Fold, the company’s first book‑style foldable. The European price is €1,999 as part of a bundle that includes the Moto Pen Ultra.

Notably, the Razr Fold supports stylus input on both the inner and outer screens—an advantage over competing models from Samsung and Google. Motorola also released most of the device’s specifications, as outlined below.

  • Outer screen: 6.6‑inch pOLED panel protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.
  • Inner screen: 8.1‑inch display, the largest foldable screen in North America.
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
  • Memory & storage: 16 GB RAM, 512 GB internal storage.
  • Camera system: Three 50‑megapixel sensors (ultrawide, main, and 3× optical zoom), mirroring the Motorola Signature lineup.
  • Battery: 6,000 mAh silicon‑carbon unit with up to 80 W fast charging (comparable to the OnePlus Open).

Motorola also introduced a FIFA edition of the Razr Fold, complementing the FIFA edition flip from CES.

The $2,000 elephant in the room

The €1,999 price (≈ $2,320 before regional adjustments) raised eyebrows, and understandably so. It is a premium price for Motorola’s first book‑style foldable, but there are reasons it can be justified.

  • The €1,999 figure includes the €100 Moto Pen Ultra accessory, effectively making the phone €1,899. The Pen Ultra is an active stylus with pressure sensitivity, a quick‑action button, and a smart menu, housed in its own case.
  • While the processor isn’t a game‑changer, the phone offers several firsts: the first triple 50‑megapixel camera setup on a North American foldable, the largest and brightest screen, and the biggest battery—a 6,000 mAh silicon‑carbon unit capable of up to 80 W fast charging, matching the OnePlus Open.
  • Compared with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Razr Fold is slightly thicker but sports a battery that is over 40 % larger and charges faster.

The camera balance also looks promising. While the Z Fold 7 sports a 200‑megapixel main sensor, its secondary lenses lag behind. The Razr Fold’s three 50‑megapixel cameras should deliver a more consistent all‑around experience.

Patience is key

Motorola’s historical pricing strategy often involves launching at a high MSRP and then offering significant discounts shortly after release. For example, the Moto Razr Ultra, originally priced at $1,499, was available for $799 soon after launch. If the €1,999 price feels steep, waiting a few weeks could yield a better deal.

At the time of writing, U.S. pricing and availability dates have not been announced, so there’s no immediate pressure to purchase. If anything, the excitement of a high‑quality foldable entering the U.S. market is reason enough to stay tuned.
