macOS 26.4 beta 4 now available, here’s what’s coming

Apple is rolling out macOS 26.4 developer beta 4, ahead of the official release. Here’s what to expect.
Safari’s compact tabs are back
Based on the past three beta versions of macOS 26.4, it is safe to assume that Safari’s compact tab view is set to return, following Apple’s decision to remove it with the release of macOS 26 last year.
macOS 26.4 also finally fixes the window‑resize pointer bug, where the cursor didn’t follow the window’s actual corner shape. Apple had previously marked the issue as fixed in macOS 26.3, before reclassifying it as a known issue.
The update also introduces a popular third‑party feature as a native setting: Charge Limit. With it, users can set a maximum charge between 80 % and 100 % to help extend battery health.
Finally, macOS 26.4 will begin warning users when they open apps that rely on Rosetta, as Apple continues its plan to phase out Rosetta 2 with macOS 27.
The release build for today’s macOS 26.4 beta 4 is 25E5233c. We are digging through the code and will report back if we find more new features.
