Overview

Lyft has introduced Lyft Teen, a rideshare option for users aged 13 to 17. Teen riders can request rides directly through the app, while parents or guardians retain full visibility and control over each trip.

Safety Features

  • Parental Monitoring: Parents can view every ride in real time, receive pickup and drop‑off updates, and communicate with the driver when needed.
  • Driver Standards: All drivers must meet Lyft’s highest standards, including annual background checks, proven safe driving records, positive passenger interactions, and sufficient driving experience.
  • PIN Verification: Teens must enter a personal identification number (PIN) before entering the vehicle, ensuring the correct rider is matched with the driver.
  • Audio Recording: Ride audio is recorded by default to provide an additional layer of safety.

Availability

Lyft Teen is currently available in 200 markets, including major cities such as New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, and Miami. The service will continue expanding to additional locations throughout the year.
