Latest One UI 9 leak shows off ‘Tap to Share,’ adds Bixby widgets to home screen

Samsung is still working on One UI 9 ahead of a planned launch later this summer. A fresh leaked build gives a clearer look at two upcoming features.
Tap to Share
As reported by SamMobile, Samsung has moved its test builds to Android 17. The new build, running on a Galaxy S26, shows a more detailed view of the “Tap to Share” gesture that first leaked last month (original leak).

Tapping your device to another supported phone while Gallery, Quick Share, or the share panel is open lets you send selected images, videos, and other files. Tapping from the home screen shares your contact profile, making it easy to exchange phone numbers, email addresses, and more. Both phones must be unlocked, and the backs of the devices need to be tapped. Samsung’s menu indicates that the exact contact points depend on the model of each phone. After the tap, the receiving device simply needs to accept the transfer.
Google is reportedly working on similar functionality for cross‑OEM support, allowing files to be shared between, for example, a Galaxy S26 and a Pixel 10 (details). Quick Share already includes this capability, though it’s somewhat hidden and can be inconsistent (see here).
Bixby Widgets
Outside of “Tap to Share,” Samsung is developing new Bixby widgets for the home screen. These widgets provide quick, tappable ways to interact with the AI assistant using both keyboard and voice commands. This follows recent upgrades to Bixby, driven by a partnership with Perplexity (more info).

Release Outlook
One UI 9 is expected to roll out later this year, with an initial launch likely tied to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8.
