iOS 27 could make it much easier to switch up your home screen layout: report

WWDC26 is just under 2 months away, where Apple will unveil its next generation of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and so on. Rumors for iOS 27 have so far indicated that this year’s release will mostly be focused on stability, with limited new features beyond Apple finally delivering on its AI promises.
Even though iOS 27 won’t have anything major, there still will be a few light customization features – and one of them will let you quickly undo and redo changes on your home screen.
Easier customization in iOS 27
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in this weekend’s Power On newsletter, iOS 27 will add a new home screen toggle that’ll allow users to undo and redo changes on their home screen. This toggle will exist in the same customization menu that’s currently used for adding widgets, switching your icon theme, and more.
In the category of modest improvements, Apple is testing a tweak to the home screen in iOS 27 that could be helpful for those often making adjustments to their icon and widget layouts. Right now, when you long‑press on the home screen, you get a bubble in the top left corner with four options: Add Widget, Customize, Edit Wallpaper and Edit Pages. Apple is looking at adding “undo” and “redo” buttons in that same menu to make reversing or redoing changes easier.
So, from now on – if you want to make a home screen change you don’t quite feel sure about, Apple will allow you to easily undo it. Similarly, if you reverse something you actually might’ve liked – you can just bring it back. It’s unclear how far back the undo/redo history will go, but it’ll certainly be useful for rapidly iterating.
Outside of this new undo and redo feature, iOS 27 will add a new Liquid Glass slider – allowing you to dial in exactly how you want your Liquid Glass to look, beyond just the current Clear and Tinted options of today.
And as mentioned earlier, the real focus with iOS 27 will be on improved performance and stability, likely resulting in better battery life as well.
