First Look at Siri’s Redesign for iOS 27

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple’s WWDC 26 artwork already offers a glimpse of the new Siri design that will arrive with iOS 27. The voice assistant is set to receive a visual overhaul along with expanded functionality.

Visual Design Details

• The new interface incorporates a glow effect similar to the one featured in the WWDC 26 poster art, which is most striking in dark mode (the poster uses a black background).
• When invoked, Siri emerges from the Dynamic Island. The pill‑shaped element expands, displaying a prompt that reads “Search or Ask” accompanied by a glowing cursor.
• The search‑bar text field in the standalone Siri app receives the same glowing treatment.

Gurman’s description

“Siri’s new look is what Apple is highlighting in its teaser. The design currently being tested within the company includes a Siri interface that sits within the Dynamic Island, the pill‑shaped element near the top of the screen. When Siri is triggered, the Island expands with a prompt that reads ‘Search or Ask,’ accompanied by a glowing cursor. It looks similar to how the ‘26’ is highlighted in the conference’s logo.”

The glow effect was also visible in a video posted by Apple VP Greg Joswiak when the WWDC dates were announced.

Comparison to the Previous LLM‑Era Design

• This would be the second redesign of Siri in the large‑language‑model era.
• The first “Apple Intelligence” incarnation, shipped with iOS 18, featured a rainbow lighting effect around the display edge.
• Because the intended features for that version did not ship on time, Apple appears to be revisiting the design.

New Capabilities

• The updated Siri will support more natural, back‑and‑forth conversations, allowing multiple requests in a single utterance.
