Instagram’s Reels-first redesign might get a customizable ‘Your feeds’ [Video]
Source: 9to5Google

Background
The onslaught of vertical video continues, and Instagram is moving further toward a Reels‑first experience. In September 2025, Meta announced that Instagram would start testing a new UI that opens directly to Reels instead of the traditional Stories‑first layout. Today’s app opens with Stories at the top, followed by a mixed feed of photos, videos, and Reels from accounts you follow and suggested content.
Leak Details
Leaker @howfxr on X shared a thread showcasing Meta’s in‑progress redesign. The screenshots and recording, originally posted by @ParthChandel50, reveal a home tab that still pins Stories at the very top but then launches straight into an endless‑scroll feed of Reels. The bottom navigation includes the usual tabs—Messages, Search/Explore, and Profile—plus a new “Your feeds” tab.
“Your feeds” Tab
The new tab appears to be a customizable feed with several options:
- Following – content from accounts you follow.
- Friends – accounts you follow that also follow you back.
- Latest – a chronological view.
- Saved – posts you’ve saved.
- Favorites – a curated list of preferred accounts.
- Suggested – algorithmic recommendations.
- Posts only – posts from people you follow, excluding Reels.
All feed options can be rearranged to suit user preferences.

Comparison with Threads
Meta has previously introduced similar feed‑customization tools on Threads. The new Instagram options echo that approach, giving users more control over what appears in their main feed.
Timeline & Outlook
Meta has not disclosed when—or if—the redesign will roll out globally. The testing phase appears limited to certain regions, and a broader release timeline remains unknown.
Community Reaction
The potential shift to a Reels‑first UI has sparked discussion among users and creators. Many are curious about how the change will affect content discovery and the overall Instagram experience.
