Instagram introduces “Instants”
Instagram is once again borrowing from competitors like Snapchat and BeReal with a new photo‑sharing format called Instants. Instants are ephemeral photos that cannot be edited and can only be shared with close friends or followers who follow you back. The feature launched globally on Wednesday and is available both within the Instagram app’s inbox and as a separate app currently being tested in select countries.
How to access Instants
- Open the Instagram app and go to your Direct Message (DM) inbox.
- Look for an icon or a stack of photos in the bottom‑right corner.
- Tap the icon to create and share an Instant.
After you post an Instant, friends can react with emojis and reply directly within the DM thread.
