Inflation comes to Fortnite: V-Bucks prices increase

Introduction

Not even the in‑game currencies for your favorite battle‑royale shooter games are immune from the current global economic conditions. Fortnite, the massively popular free‑to‑play game, announced on Tuesday that it was increasing the prices for its in‑game currency V‑Bucks.

“The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills,” Epic Games said in a statement posted on Fortnite’s website.

V‑Bucks Pack Price Changes

Effective March 19, the amount of V‑Bucks received for each price tier will be reduced:

Although the pack prices stay the same, the cost per 50 V‑Bucks rises from $0.50 to $0.99, meaning players will spend more for the same amount of currency.

Fortnite Crew Subscription

The monthly Fortnite Crew membership remains priced at $11.99 per month, but the monthly V‑Bucks reward drops from 1,000 V‑Bucks to 800 V‑Bucks.

Season Pass Price Adjustments

All four season passes will cost fewer V‑Bucks:

• OG Pass: 1,000 → 800 V‑Bucks
• Music Pass: 1,400 → 1,200 V‑Bucks
• LEGO Pass: 1,400 → 1,200 V‑Bucks
• Battle Pass: 1,000 → 800 V‑Bucks

Battle Pass Rewards

Previously, completing the Battle Pass granted 1,000 V‑Bucks plus an additional 500 V‑Bucks from Bonus Rewards (total 1,500 V‑Bucks). Going forward, the total reward is reduced to 800 V‑Bucks, and the Bonus Rewards tier is eliminated. Consequently, players will no longer have surplus V‑Bucks to spend on skins or other shop items after completing the Pass.

Battle Bundle

The Battle Bundle, which includes the Battle Pass and a 25‑level upgrade, will now cost 2,600 V‑Bucks (down from 2,800 V‑Bucks).

Cosmetic Items

Items sold in the Fortnite shop—skins, emotes, back blings, wraps, etc.—are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay.

Gift Cards

Epic Games confirms that existing Fortnite gift cards can still be redeemed at the rate printed on the card.
