I built a tiny invoice generator because I didn’t want a SaaS for one invoice

Overview

I ran into this situation more times than I expected.

I just needed to send a clean invoice PDF. No onboarding, no accounts, no dashboards. Just create the invoice and move on.

Most invoicing tools are solid, but they’re designed as full systems: client management, recurring invoices, integrations, reporting. For occasional invoicing, that felt like unnecessary friction.

So I built a very small invoice generator that runs entirely in the browser.

Key points

  • No signup, no saved data.
  • Fill in the details and export the invoice.

It’s intentionally limited. This is not accounting software and it’s not trying to replace one. It’s meant for freelancers, consultants, or anyone who invoices once in a while and wants something quick and clean.

Usage

You can access the tool here: the‑invoice.app

Discussion

Curious how others handle this.

Do you keep a full invoicing tool around for one‑off invoices, or do you use templates or something lightweight?
