Here’s the changelog for Samsung’s Android 17 update, One UI 9

Samsung is rolling out the first beta update for One UI 9, which will bring Android 17 under the hood for Galaxy devices. The changelog shows that, at least for now, the update is fairly modest.
The first beta is rolling out in select regions such as Germany, offering a look at Samsung’s official changelog for One UI 9. Shared by Tarun Vats and SamMobile, the list of changes is short but includes several usability enhancements.

More customizable quick panel
- Rearrange and customize controls in the quick panel more extensively.
- Adjust the size of the brightness and volume sliders as well as the media player.
- Separate the sound‑mode button from the volume slider.
Samsung DeX enhancements
- Move an app window between desktops using a menu at the top of the window.
- Desktop previews are now available at the top of the Recents screen for one‑tap switching.
Do more with Notes
- New Tape feature in Samsung Notes lets you cover parts of a note with tape and reveal them when needed.
- Added a variety of new pen styles for writing and drawing.
More settings in Game Booster panel
- Adjust game settings without leaving the action.
- Access screen resolution, screenshot format, and more directly from the Game Booster panel.
Location access transparency
- A blue indicator appears at the top of the screen when an app accesses your location.
- Tap the indicator in the quick panel to see which app is using location data.
Discover new Accessibility features
- Check the “What’s new” menu in Accessibility settings to learn about and try the latest features.
Text spotlight for easier reading
- Tap any text on the screen to enlarge and highlight it in its own window.
- Customize font size, colors, and other settings.
Physical keyboard shortcuts
- Use shortcuts on a physical keyboard to access Accessibility settings without touching the screen.
Mouse keys enhancements
- New options for keyboard‑driven mouse interactions, including speed and acceleration control.
- Use the keyboard’s number pad to point and click.
Replace swipe with single tap
- The “Replace swipe with single tap” option is now located in the Dexterity and interaction menu for easier access.
Select to speak
- Quickly get audio readouts without enabling full TalkBack.
- Select an item (text or image) and have it read or described aloud.
Improved TalkBack updates
- Samsung and Google’s TalkBack features have been unified.
- Updates can now be applied via a simple app update from the Play Store.
Overall, the update is modest, but Samsung isn’t expected to formally launch it until at least July (on its new foldables), leaving room for additional features to appear.
The One UI 9 beta program is open now for Galaxy S26 series devices and will likely expand to other models in the coming months.
