TL;DR

  • Google has started rolling out a new interface for the Wallet app.
  • The updated interface emphasizes better visibility for favorites.
  • In addition to a new home screen, Google Wallet gets a refreshed design for individual cards and passes.

New Home Screen Layout

Google has been testing several interface upgrades for the Wallet app to make frequently used passes easier to access. With the rollout of version 26.14.895964528, the home page now uses a grid layout. Favorites are arranged in a more compact structure, reducing the amount of scrolling needed to reach important passes.

Managing Favorites

  • Passes can be marked as favorites using the star‑shaped button.
  • At the bottom of the home screen a “View More” button opens a full list of your top passes.
  • The page includes a search bar and options to “View more passes” and “Manage passes on home.”

View more passes

Shows the entire list of passes saved in Wallet. The list can be sorted alphabetically or by most recently added.

Manage passes on home

Displays the list of already‑starred passes. From here you can:

  • Use the “Reorder” function to change pass priority.
  • Tap “Add to home” to make additional passes easily accessible.

You can also rearrange passes directly from the home screen by dragging and dropping them into the desired position—functionality that was available in the previous list view.

Individual Pass Redesign

The update introduces a new interface for each pass:

  • Graphics are given more prominence, while the member ID is displayed in a smaller section of the card‑shaped imagery, mimicking a physical card’s look.
  • A star icon appears at the top of each card overview, allowing you to add or remove that pass from the home screen with a tap.
  • The more colorful pass UI that was spotted in testing last month has not yet been released. (See the earlier teardown for details.)

Rollout Status

The rollout has begun but may not be immediately available on every device. Testing with sideloaded app bundles showed that only a subset of devices received the new interface, indicating a server‑side rollout. To prepare, ensure your device is updated to the latest version of Google Wallet from the Play Store.
