Google began teasing the Fitbit Air at the end of March, and the screen‑less wearable appears set to launch on Thursday, May 7.
Fitbit’s Instagram account—now directing users to @madebygoogle—posted a three‑image teaser yesterday morning. The caption reads “Buckle up. 5.7.26.” and shows a shiny metal buckle with a light‑blue strap reminiscent of the Pixel Watch Woven Band.
Branding and Software
We previously reported on the “Fitbit Air” brand name and the Google Health app with its Premium subscription. It seems “Fitbit” will continue to be used for hardware, while Google Health will serve as the umbrella for all software moving forward. A new heart‑shaped icon in Google colors with a gradient effect has also been introduced.
Timing
The launch timing is notable, arriving less than two weeks before Google I/O. This strategy gives the Fitbit Air its own news cycle separate from the developer conference.
