Overview

Google announced the Fitbit Air, a screen‑less fitness tracker priced at $99.99. Housed in a pill‑shaped pebble made of plastic, the device is designed for discreet, all‑day wear and “all‑night comfort.” It can be easily removed from the band mechanism.

Sensors

  • Optical heart‑rate monitor
  • 3‑axis accelerometer + gyroscope
  • Red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation (SpO₂) monitoring
  • Device temperature sensor (skin‑temperature variation)

These sensors enable 24/7 heart‑rate tracking, above/below‑range notifications, irregular heart‑rhythm alerts for AFib, and heart‑rate variability (HRV) monitoring.
