Google debuts $499 Pixel 10a

Google on Wednesday introduced its latest entry‑level Pixel smartphone, the Pixel 10a. Priced at $499, it launches with new AI software capabilities, minor hardware updates, and is available for preorder now with shipments starting March 5. It comes in Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian.
Design
- Completely flat back; the camera bar blends with the rear surface and lies flat when placed on a surface.
- No “PixelSnap” magnetic Qi charging feature (found on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold).
Display
- 6.3‑inch Actua display, 11 % brighter than the Pixel 9a.
Battery & Charging
- Faster charging than its predecessor.
- More than 30 hours of battery life, extending up to 120 hours with the “Extreme Battery Saver” setting.
Performance
- Powered by the same Tensor G4 chip that drove the Pixel 9a.
Camera
- 48 MP main sensor (Google claims it’s the best camera on a phone under $500).
- 13 MP ultrawide sensor.
- AI‑powered features carried over from the Pixel 10 series:
- Auto Best Take – captures multiple frames with one shutter press and automatically selects the best shot for group photos.
- Camera Coach – provides step‑by‑step guidance on lighting and composition.
- First‑time inclusion of Satellite SOS on an A‑series device, enabling emergency contact without Wi‑Fi or cellular service.
