Gemini 3.1 Pro is now in public preview in GitHub Copilot

Gemini 3.1 Pro, Google’s latest agentic coding model, is now rolling out in GitHub Copilot. In early testing, this model excels on effective and efficient edit‑then‑test loops with high tool precision, achieving strong resolution success with fewer tool calls per benchmark.
Availability in GitHub Copilot
Gemini 3.1 Pro will be available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise users.
You’ll be able to select the model in the model picker in:
- Visual Studio Code (all modes: chat, ask, edit, agent)
- Visual Studio (all modes: agent, ask)
- github.com
- GitHub Mobile (iOS and Android)
Rollout will be gradual. Check back soon if you don’t see it yet.
Enabling access
Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Business plan administrators must enable the Gemini 3.1 Pro policy in Copilot settings.
