Samsung’s flagship camera setup has been due for some updates and, with Galaxy S27 Ultra, that might be coming.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera setup consists of a 200 MP main camera paired with a 50 MP ultrawide, 50 MP 5× telephoto, and 10 MP 3× telephoto. There’s an obvious weak point there, and it’s apparently being addressed next year.

Leaker Ice Universe says that the 3× telephoto lens is “simply gone” on the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Expanding on that, Ice says that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will get a “new generation” ultrawide camera that will appear first on Galaxy Z Fold 8, while also getting newer versions of its main sensor and a new front‑facing camera as well. Variable aperture is “80 %” likely, Ice adds.

It’s apparently a sure thing that the 3× telephoto sensor is going away, with the Galaxy S27 Ultra also potentially “increasing” the 5× zoom.

These changes are sourced from “early internal information,” meaning it’s all subject to change. Samsung is also thought to be working on other major changes to the Galaxy S27 lineup, but it apparently depends on how things go during “RAMageddon.” Seeing as that’s not getting better anytime soon, I’m not exactly holding my breath for a big refresh next year.
