Galaxy S26 is here, but Samsung hasn’t forgotten the Galaxy S25’s software path

Release Overview

Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 series and simultaneously launched One UI 8.5 in its stable form. While customers await the new hardware, Samsung is polishing the software for existing devices. Unexpectedly, a new One UI 8.5 beta 6 for the Galaxy S25 series rolled out the day after the S26 launch.

Tarun Vats reported on X that the beta, identified by firmware version ZZAO, is currently rolling out to owners in South Korea, India, and Germany. Following Samsung’s typical rollout pattern, the update should reach the UK and US shortly.

The ZZAO build is roughly 568 MB and includes the February 5, 2026 security patch.

  • Resolved duplicate “View Previous Image” buttons in the Gallery’s sketch conversion feature.
  • Corrected text, icons, and AOD visibility for Now Bar/Now Brief recommendation cards.
  • Fixed a forced‑close crash when changing camera area settings under Settings > Display.
  • Fixed a lock‑screen style change in Basic mode under Modes and Routines.
  • Improved animation for notification cards.
