Funding round

Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke has raised the largest‑ever seed round for a developer‑tool startup, according to lead backer Felicis. The startup, Entire, secured $60 million at a $300 million valuation.

Product overview

Entire offers an open‑source tool to help developers better manage code written by AI agents. Its technology consists of three components:

  1. Git‑compatible database – unifies AI‑produced code. Git is a distributed version‑control system widely used by enterprises and open‑source platforms such as GitHub and GitLab.
  2. Universal semantic reasoning layer – enables multiple AI agents to collaborate.
  3. AI‑native user interface – designed for agent‑to‑human collaboration.

The first product released by Entire is an open‑source tool called Checkpoints. Checkpoints automatically pairs every piece of software an AI agent submits with the context that created it (including prompts and transcripts). This allows human developers to review, search, and potentially learn why the AI made specific decisions.

Why it matters

Developers are increasingly overwhelmed by the large volumes of code generated by AI coding agents. Popular open‑source projects are particularly inundated with suggested contributions that may be “AI slop” – poorly designed or unusable code. As Dohmke explained in the press release:

“We are living through an agent boom, and now massive volumes of code are being generated faster than any human could reasonably understand. The truth is, our manual system of software production — from issues, to git repositories, to pull requests, to deployment — was never designed for the era of AI in the first place.”

Founder background

Thomas Dohmke served as CEO of Microsoft’s GitHub for four years, stepping down in August 2025 to launch Entire. In a post on X, he announced his departure and noted his role in overseeing the rise of the popular coding agent GitHub Copilot.
