Announcement

During today’s Nintendo Indie World presentation, Drinkbox Studios announced that Blighted will be released this fall for both the Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. The game will launch on the same date for both platforms, though no exact date beyond the season has been provided.

Background

We first learned about Blighted at last year’s Summer Games Fest (source). Known for titles such as Guacamelee!, Guacamelee! 2, and Severed, the studio is now turning its focus toward a 3D Metroidvania‑RPG. While this represents a new genre direction, Drinkbox’s signature moody, eerie aesthetic remains prominent.

The core premise centers on the player regaining lost communal memories and, intriguingly, eating brains—making the experience both surreal and slightly macabre. Blighted will support both solo and co‑op play for its story mode.
