Did Tim Cook just tease a touchscreen MacBook? Sure looks like it.

What does it mean?

Apple recently announced that it’s hosting a “special experience” on March 4, and Apple CEO Tim Cook is hyping up the event with a mysterious X post. The post includes a short video and the message:

“A big week ahead. It all starts Monday morning! #AppleLaunch”

(The original X post is currently unavailable.)

So, what does it all mean?

Apple prognosticators like Mark Gurman at Bloomberg have predicted that Apple will make several announcements in the days leading up to March 4, and Cook’s post appears to confirm those rumors. All eyes will be on Apple on Monday, March 2.

Event Details

Instead of a traditional launch at Apple Park, the March 4 experience will involve events in London, New York, and Shanghai.

Possible Products

Apple hasn’t officially confirmed what will be unveiled, but rumors point to three specific possibilities:

  1. iPhone 17e
  2. New iPad Air
  3. New MacBooks – rumored to include:
    • A souped‑up MacBook Pro with a new M5 Pro chip
    • A budget MacBook with a touchscreen display (or possibly both, or neither)

A more affordable MacBook could tip the balance of the budget‑laptop market in Apple’s favor, and if I were still covering Windows laptops, I’d be worried right now.

The six‑second X video looks to me like the back of a MacBook, and the person manipulating the Apple logo with their fingers screams “touchscreen.”

Bottom Line

For now, Apple is being tight‑lipped. I may be reading too much into a six‑second clip, but the crumbs they’ve dropped are fueling a lot of speculation.

Stay tuned – we’ll report on the Apple “special experience” next week. In the meantime, join the conversation on social media.
