Boox just launched the Tappy wireless remote, leaving Amazon in the dust
Source: Mashable Tech
Overview
While Amazon may dominate the e‑reader market with its popular Kindles, the company is lagging behind in supporting accessories. On May 8, Boox launched the Tappy wireless remote, a Bluetooth device that lets users turn pages, scroll through articles, and control playback of audiobooks. The remote pairs easily with Boox e‑readers for a seamless reading experience.

Design and Build
- Colors: Sage (Amazon exclusive) and Citrus (Boox exclusive).
- Extras: Two spare key caps allow users to personalize the remote’s appearance.
Modes of Operation
The Tappy offers three distinct modes:
Reading Mode
Optimized for page‑by‑page navigation. A single click flips pages in most reading apps.
Browsing Mode
Enables vertical scrolling, ideal for news feeds or long‑form articles.
Multimedia Mode
Acts as a remote for audiobooks or music, letting you skip to the previous or next track.
On Boox e‑readers running Firmware V4.2 or later, button functions can be customized—double‑tap or long‑hold actions can be assigned to different commands.
Pricing and Availability
- Price: $25.99
- Availability: Listed on both Amazon and Boox stores. The Amazon listing is not yet live; the product is currently sold from Boox’s Hong Kong warehouse.
Compatibility
The remote connects to Boox devices via Bluetooth. According to the press release, it may also work with other Bluetooth‑compatible devices, though compatibility with Kindle e‑readers has not been confirmed.
