Overview

BMW announced its 2027 7‑series lineup, describing it as “the most extensive model update ever undertaken.” The range includes two i7 electric sedans, a plug‑in hybrid, two internal‑combustion models, and a V8‑powered M model, all built on BMW’s “Neue Klasse” platform and featuring a new design language.

Design

  • Exterior: BMW calls the new luxury design “monolithic,” highlighted by minimalist crystal headlights and the light‑up kidney “Iconic Glow” grille.
  • Body form: A new “character line” creates a boat‑tail‑like silhouette in the three‑quarter view.
  • Paint: The “Individual Dual‑Finish” option combines a matte lower section with a manually applied metallic upper finish for a discreet yet elegant look.

Interior Technology

  • Screen: A 31.3‑inch 8K BMW Theater Screen provides rear‑seat passengers with 8K streaming, gaming, and Zoom calls.

  • New cylindrical battery packs with up to 20 % higher energy density, available in capacities up to 112.5 kWh.
  • EPA‑estimated range for the i7 60 xDrive: up to 350 miles per charge.

Charging

  • Rate: Up to 250 kW fast charging.
  • Speed: 10 % to 80 % charge in approximately 28 minutes with a compatible charger.
  • Features:
    • Adaptive recuperation system that adjusts to traffic‑light patterns and offers selectable high, medium, or low regeneration (high setting provides a one‑pedal feel).

All 7‑series variants, including the EVs, will be assembled on a single production line at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.
