Assign issues to Copilot coding agent from Raycast
Source: GitHub Changelog
Overview
Copilot coding agent is an asynchronous, autonomous background agent. You delegate a task to Copilot, it works in the background, and then requests a review from you.
Assigning Issues from Raycast
You can assign issues to Copilot directly from Raycast, a free launcher for Windows and macOS that can launch apps, search files, control your system, and use community‑built extensions such as the GitHub Copilot extension.
After installing the extension:
- Invoke the “Assign Issue to Copilot” command.
- Select the repository and the issue you want to assign.
- Press Ctrl + Enter (Windows) or Cmd + Enter (macOS) to assign the issue.
Copilot will open a pull request, work on the task in the background, and request a review from you when it’s finished.
Available Commands
- Assign Issue to Copilot – Assign an existing GitHub issue to the coding agent.
- Create Task – Start a new task without an existing issue.
- View Tasks – Track the progress of tasks you’ve already started.

Copilot coding agent is available to subscribers of Copilot Pro, Copilot Pro+, Copilot Business, and Copilot Enterprise.
If you belong to a Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise organization, an administrator must enable Copilot coding agent from the Policies page before you can use it.
