Apple TV just announced Twisted Yoga, a new true‑crime docuseries that’s premiering next week. Here are the details and the trailer.

Twisted Yoga coming to Apple TV as rare true crime docuseries

True‑crime docuseries are a popular genre on streamers like Netflix, but Apple has done surprisingly little in that space. The one exception so far is The Big Conn, which covered a half‑billion‑dollar Social Security con.

Now, Apple TV has just unveiled its next true‑crime series: Twisted Yoga.

Twisted Yoga premieres on Friday, March 13, with all three episodes available that day.

“Twisted Yoga” follows a group of young yoga students from around the world drawn to the ancient practice in search of inner peace and purpose, only to fall under the influence of reclusive Romanian “guru” Gregorian Bivolaru, the spiritual leader of an international network of yoga studios specializing in tantric rituals. As they begin to fear they’ve joined a cult, they discover that Bivolaru, who often summoned select female students to his Paris apartment for private initiations, has a dark past. Bivolaru now faces charges in France, including human trafficking, kidnapping and rape — allegations he denies — as these women work with French authorities to convict him.

I’m interested to see if Twisted Yoga is the start of a broader lineup of true‑crime series coming to Apple TV, or just a one‑off. Netflix and other streamers have found a lot of success in the genre with breakout hits like Making a Murderer and Tiger King.
