Overview
Apple seeded the fourth betas of iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 for developers, a week after the third betas were released.
Downloading the beta
Registered developers can download the betas from the Settings app on iPhone or iPad:
Settings → General → Software Update
Feature highlights
- Siri – No new Siri updates are expected until iOS 27.
- Maps – The Maps app includes a Suggested Places feature that recommends nearby locations based on trends and recent searches. Apple is also preparing to support ads within Apple Maps.
- RCS messaging – RCS support between iPhone and Android was introduced in the iOS 26.4 beta but was removed before the public launch.
- EU testing – In the European Union, Apple is testing proximity pairing, notification forwarding, and Live Activities for third‑party wearables (earbuds, smartwatches). This would give these accessories many of the same capabilities as the Apple Watch and AirPods.
