New MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Pricing

Apple has launched the new generation of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. While the base prices have increased, the expected surge in RAM upgrade costs has not materialized.

MacBook Air

  • Base price: $1,099 (up $100 from the previous M4 model’s $999).
  • Storage: Standard 512 GB (double the 256 GB offered previously).
  • The price increase is largely offset by the larger storage capacity.

MacBook Pro

  • 14‑inch base model: $2,199 (up $200 from the M4 Pro’s $1,999).
  • Storage: Standard 1 TB (double the 512 GB of the prior generation).
  • The $200 price bump is similarly mitigated by the increased storage.

RAM Upgrade Pricing

Apple has kept RAM upgrade costs unchanged from the M4 generation:

  • 24 GB → 48 GB (14‑inch Pro): $400 upgrade.
  • 48 GB → 64 GB: Additional $200.
  • 64 GB → 128 GB: Additional $1,000.

These options are available only with the higher‑end CPU configurations and follow the same pricing matrix as the previous generation.

Additional Notes

  • The original M5 MacBook Pro model that launched in October 2025 with 512 GB storage at $1,499 is no longer offered. The current base model starts at $1,699 with 1 TB storage.
  • Overall, the base models now cost $100–$200 more, but the increase is largely balanced by larger default storage, and RAM upgrade prices remain unchanged.
