Apple Music pokes fun at latest Spotify price increase
Source: 9to5Mac

Last month, Spotify announced a new round of price increases for subscribers in the United States and other countries. As the price increases start to go into effect with February renewals, Apple Music is poking fun at Spotify’s drama on social media.
Apple Music is also offering a free three‑month trial right now.
Spotify price increases
As a refresher, here are the price increases for Spotify’s plans in the United States:
- Spotify Premium: $11.99 → $12.99
- Spotify Duo: $16.99 → $18.99
- Spotify Family: $19.99 → $21.99
- Spotify Student: $5.99 → $6.99
Spotify last increased US prices in June 2024, when Premium went from $10.99 to $11.99. In 2023, the price went from $9.99 to $10.99, the service’s first ever price increase. Spotify says the latest increase will let it “keep delivering a great experience.”
Apple Music piles on
As the Spotify price increase takes effect, Premium subscribers have taken to social media to voice frustration. In a post today, Apple Music replied: “BTW, we’re still the same price,” a clear jab at Spotify.
When Apple Music launched in 2015, it was $9.99 per month. Its first and only price increase came in October 2022, raising the individual plan to $10.99. Prices have remained unchanged since then:
- Apple Music Individual: $10.99 per month
- Apple Music Family: $16.99 per month
- Apple Music Student: $5.99 per month
Apple Music is therefore $2 per month cheaper for individual subscribers and $5 cheaper for family plans compared with Spotify. The service also offers a free three‑month trial until February 24 and is included in the Apple One bundle plans, which combine Apple Music with Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and more.
