A bug with Android Auto is causing users to be unable to use voice commands, with a prominent “voice commands aren’t available right now” notice appearing.

Over the weekend, many Android Auto users reported the issue on Reddit. The problem is affecting devices from Samsung, Google Pixel, and other Android brands. Similar reports have been posted on Google’s forums, including recent threads on May 24 2025 and May 25 2025. Some users noted the issue as far back as January 2025, but it has become more widespread in the past few days.

Normally, voice commands on Android Auto—mostly through Google Assistant—run into occasional hiccups, but the current bug shows an error as the user starts the command, rather than during processing.

One user shared an image of the notification:

Google has not officially acknowledged the issue yet, but some users say it began after a recent Google app update. According to Reddit comments, clearing the cache on the Google app can temporarily resolve the problem, though the bug appears to be intermittent.

If you’re experiencing this issue, keep an eye on official updates for a permanent fix or a more reliable workaround.
