How to download Android 17 Beta 1

Google just released the first public beta for Android 17, and you can install it now if you have a compatible Pixel device.

1. Visit the Android Beta Program website.
2. Click “Opt In” with a Google account that’s linked to a compatible Pixel phone.
3. On the Pixel itself, open Settings → System → Advanced → System update (or simply “Check for updates”).
4. After a short wait, the Android 17 beta should appear and can be downloaded.

Supported Pixel devices

The beta is available for all Pixel models from the Pixel 6 series onward, including:

• Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a
• Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a
• Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a

What to expect from the beta

The initial release focuses on modest UI tweaks rather than major feature overhauls. Highlights include:
