Amazon Fire TV’s new interface is now rolling out in the US

Amazon is rolling out a new user interface for its Fire TV streaming devices, designed to put more focus on the content while simplifying navigation. The update, initially available to Fire TV owners in the U.S., represents the first major Fire TV redesign in years.
Why a redesign?
The explosion of streaming content has made it harder for users to know what’s available on which service. Fire TV now aims to serve more as a discovery hub than just a launcher for apps.
Design updates
The company first previewed the new design at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. The refreshed UI features:
- Rounded corners and varied gradients
- Consistent typography and increased spacing between content
- More space for pinned apps

Expanded app slots
Previously, users could pin only six apps to the home screen. With smaller app icons, the new layout expands this to 20 slots, accommodating services such as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, and other top streamers.
Simplified navigation bar
The top navigation bar now uses simple icons for the following categories:
- Movies
- TV
- Live TV
- Sports
- News
The search button is positioned to the left of the Home tab for easy access.

Content discovery
Within each tab, Fire TV surfaces the content you’re already watching and displays additional suggestions drawn from the services you’ve subscribed to, organized in rows labeled “For You.” The tabs also highlight:
- Free movies to stream
- Top movies and shows
- Paid content you might enjoy
The Live TV tab centralizes access to live content across your streaming services, as well as broadcast or cable TV (if you subscribe or use an antenna).

Additional features
Less‑frequently used options live under a three‑line “hamburger” menu on the left and include:
- Games
- Art & Photos
- Appstore
- Music Video & Audio
- Universal watchlist (“My Stuff”)
- Settings
Alexa+ integration
Amazon’s AI assistant Alexa+ is built into the new interface, allowing users to ask natural‑language questions about virtually any topic—not just movies and TV. Users can refine queries, ask follow‑up questions, and interact with on‑screen content (e.g., selecting a movie tile and saying “Tell me more about that one”).

Alexa+ is available to customers with a Prime subscription as an included perk; others can pay for access separately.
Rollout schedule
The new UI launches first on:
- Fire TV Stick 4K Plus
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen)
- Fire TV Omni Mini‑LED Series
In the spring, it will roll out to additional countries and devices, including the latest generation of Fire TV 4K streaming players and TVs such as the Fire TV 2‑Series, Fire TV 4‑Series, and Fire TV Omni QLED Series, as well as partner TVs from Hisense, Insignia, Panasonic, and TCL.
The update is also available on the new Amazon Ember Artline, a series of televisions that can display framed artwork when not in use.
