Overview
Sony closed its February 2026 State of Play presentation by unveiling God of War: Sons of Sparta, a new pre‑quel 2D side‑scroller in the God of War franchise, now available on PlayStation 5.
The game is described as a 2D action platformer with a canonical story set during Kratos’ youth, focusing on his rigorous training at the Agoge alongside his brother Deimos. Throughout the title, Kratos will learn deadly skills with his spear and shield and harness powerful divine artifacts known as the Gifts of Olympus to confront a wide array of foes.
Sony’s Santa Monica Studio collaborated on the project with external partners (details truncated).
