Google wants you to start your day with AI
Google wants you to start your day with AI—its AI, to be specific. The company is launching an experimental agent that combs through your emails, calendar, and documents to deliver a briefing to your inbox every morning.
The new feature, called CC, delivers a daily “Your Day Ahead” brief that surfaces:
- Upcoming meetings and events
- Relevant emails and documents
- Actionable items such as flight check‑ins or package deliveries
CC is built on Google’s Gemini AI model and is currently available as an opt‑in experiment for a limited set of users. It works by analyzing the content you’ve already granted it permission to access, then summarizing the most important information you’ll need for the day.
How it works
- Data collection – CC scans your Gmail, Google Calendar, and Drive files (only the items you allow).
- AI summarization – Gemini processes the data, extracts key details, and drafts a concise briefing.
- Delivery – The brief is emailed to you each morning, typically before 8 a.m. local time.
Privacy and control
- Participation is optional; you can enable or disable CC at any time in your Google Account settings.
- Google states that the data is processed on‑device where possible, and any information sent to its servers is encrypted.
- The company promises not to use the content for advertising or other purposes beyond generating the brief.
Availability
- Initially rolled out to a small group of testers in the United States.
- Google plans to expand the rollout later in 2024, pending user feedback and performance testing.
What to expect
If you opt in, you’ll start receiving a concise email each morning that looks something like this:
Your Day Ahead – Monday, Oct 14
- 9:00 AM: Team sync (Google Meet)
- 11:30 AM: Lunch with Alex (Restaurant reservation confirmed)
- 2:00 PM: Review Q3 report (Document attached)
- Flight check‑in opens at 6:00 AM (Airline: Delta)
The brief aims to surface the most relevant items, reducing the need to manually scan multiple apps and inboxes.
The Verge reports that Google hopes CC will become a “personal AI assistant” that evolves over time, eventually handling more complex tasks like drafting replies or scheduling meetings on your behalf. For now, the focus remains on delivering a clear, actionable snapshot of your day.
