YouTube TV launches fully custom multiview
After appearing for a limited set of users last week, YouTube TV has officially rolled out its fully custom multiview feature and outlined the few scenarios where it won’t work.
Multiview has long been a key selling point for sports on YouTube TV, and the capability has been expanding gradually. It is now available for all channels, including the ability to mix and match streams from different packages such as NFL Sunday Ticket.
Detailed in a post, YouTube TV’s fully custom multiview began rolling out last week as the feature was showing up for some subscribers (source). This means you can select any live channel and combine content across packages.
Starting now, we are moving beyond just top recommended channels to give you full control over your multiview experience. You can now use our new multiview builder to select any live content you want to see.
One of the most requested features we’re introducing is the ability to mix and match content across different packages. If you are a subscriber to a YouTube TV Plan and an add‑on like NFL Sunday Ticket, you can now configure those streams together in a single multiview.

Predefined categories
The new multiview builder includes several preset categories to help you get started:
- Recommended (based on your viewing habits)
- Sports
- News
- Shows
- Movies
- Other live content
You can ultimately pick any live channel you’d like to add.
Restrictions
There are two main restrictions on custom multiview:
- Content Eligibility – Multiview works only with live content. Video on Demand (VOD) and DVR recordings cannot be added. Additionally, certain family‑friendly content is excluded from multiview customization.
- Device Compatibility – The feature is rolling out to the vast majority of living‑room and mobile devices. A small subset of older devices (less than 5 %) may not support the full customization UI. On those devices you’ll still have access to a multiview builder, but it will be limited to major “tentpole” events like the NFL or World Cup.
