YouTube Premium’s previously-announced price hike is hitting customers this month, begging the question – will you cancel?

In April, Google announced that YouTube Premium would be getting a price hike in the US which was effective immediately for new subscribers. The changes are as follows:

  • **Individual: **$15.99/month, up from $13.99

  • **Family: **$26.99/month, up from $22.99

  • Lite: $8.99/month, up from $7.99

  • Music Premium: $11.99/month, up from $10.99

For existing subscribers, there was a bit of a grace period, with the new, higher YouTube Premium prices only kicking in during their June 2026 billing date – meaning existing subscribers will feel the price hike starting this month. For many, that starts this week, as it’s specifically the June 7 bill that will reflect the higher pricing.

This marks the first price hike for Premium since 2023.

With the higher prices kicking in now, many are probably contemplating their future with YouTube Premium. As everything gets more expensive, that’s understandable, so where do you lie?

Is this price hike the straw that broke the camel’s back? Will you just go back to ads? Will you switch to YouTube Premium Lite? Vote in the poll below and let us know in the comments why you made you decision.

You can cancel YouTube Premium via your account settings (YouTube > Profile Picture > Settings > Purchases and Memberships).
