YouTube is ruining the Subscriptions section with a new test

TL;DR

Robert Triggs / Android Authority
- YouTube appears to be running an experiment on TV apps.
- The test removes the top‑row carousel of recommendations in the Subscriptions section.
- That row is replaced with a block of recommendations, followed by live streams and Shorts, before the chronological list of content appears.
What the experiment changes
In the YouTube TV app, the Subscriptions section traditionally showed:
- A top‑row carousel of recent videos from channels you follow.
- Directly below, a chronological list of all new uploads from those channels.
In the current experiment, the top‑row carousel is gone. Instead, you see:
- A block of recommended videos.
- A block of live streams.
- A carousel of Shorts.
Only after scrolling past these sections do you reach the chronological list of content from your subscriptions.

Platform availability
So far, the experiment appears to be limited to the YouTube app on TV devices. There are no confirmed reports of it affecting desktop or mobile versions of the platform.
