You can now remix other people’s YouTube Shorts with AI
Source: The Verge
Overview
Google announced a new YouTube Shorts Remix feature that lets users restyle clips or even insert themselves into other people’s videos using Gemini Omni.
How it works
- At the bottom of a YouTube Short, click the remix icon.
- Select the “reimagine” option.
- Prompt Gemini to transform the video into styles such as:
- Pixel art
- Anime
- Found‑footage horror
Beyond visual styles, you can also modify the content itself, for example:
- Inflate heads
- Insert background actors
- Dress people in pirate costumes
- Place yourself into the clip
Creator controls
Creators can choose whether to allow their Shorts to be reimagined. If a creator disables the feature, viewers won’t see the remix option for that video.
