Overview

Google announced a new YouTube Shorts Remix feature that lets users restyle clips or even insert themselves into other people’s videos using Gemini Omni.

How it works

  • At the bottom of a YouTube Short, click the remix icon.
  • Select the “reimagine” option.
  • Prompt Gemini to transform the video into styles such as:
    • Pixel art
    • Anime
    • Found‑footage horror

Beyond visual styles, you can also modify the content itself, for example:

  • Inflate heads
  • Insert background actors
  • Dress people in pirate costumes
  • Place yourself into the clip

Creator controls

Creators can choose whether to allow their Shorts to be reimagined. If a creator disables the feature, viewers won’t see the remix option for that video.
