Xiaomi’s Leica Leitzphone mostly earns the name

Xiaomi and Leica’s long‑running phone partnership has taken a step forward. Alongside the new international release of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra flagship, Xiaomi is now manufacturing a separate version that marks the first Leica Leitzphone to be released outside of Japan. Previously, three Sharp‑made models were exclusive to the Japanese market.

Leica Branding

The Leitzphone is essentially a 17 Ultra with Leica branding and a rotatable camera ring. Apart from a few design tweaks, it is largely the same as the Leica Edition of the phone already available in China. The branding is significant: Leica has not allowed Xiaomi to use its red dot logo on hardware until now.
