Overview

Xiaomi’s ecosystem of gadgets is expanding. As usual, the company showcased its new flagship phones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, including the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Xiaomi also introduced a new smartwatch (Xiaomi Watch 5), a pair of earbuds (Redmi Buds 8 Pro), and, for the first time, an AirTag‑like tracking device called the Xiaomi Tag.

Xiaomi Tag is here to compete with AirTag

Xiaomi Tag is a simple white puck you can attach to your keys and track via your phone. The key advantage is its compatibility with Apple Find My, making it a direct competitor to Apple’s AirTag. It is trackable through Find My, though it does not support Apple’s Precision Tracking.

Xiaomi Watch 5 is ready for your wrist

Launched in December 2025 in China, the Xiaomi Watch 5 is a round smartwatch running Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. It features a 1.54‑inch AMOLED display inside a stainless‑steel frame, a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, and a 930 mAh battery.

The Watch 5 follows the 2024 Watch S4, offering a larger display and a battery that’s twice the capacity. It leans toward a dress‑watch aesthetic rather than a sports‑focused design and includes health and activity tracking features such as an EMG sensor and an ECG heart‑rate sensor.

Xiaomi Redmi Buds 8 Pro are packed with features

The Redmi Buds 8 Pro, launched a few weeks ago, are sleek earbuds that support hi‑res audio, active noise cancellation, and up to 36 hours of battery life. They include a noise‑reduction system that keeps calls clear in environments with up to 95 dB of external noise and in windy conditions.

Additional highlights

  • Dolby Audio support
  • Dynamic head tracking
  • IP54 dust and water resistance

Xiaomi 17 brings all the megapixels

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
  • 12 GB RAM, 256 GB/512 GB storage options
  • 6,330 mAh battery with 100 W fast charging and 50 W wireless charging

Camera system

  • Rear: Leica‑branded triple 50‑megapixel cameras (main, telephoto, ultra‑wide)

The phone is available in Venture Green (the reviewer’s unit), Black, Alpine Pink, and Ice Blue.

Other notable features

  • In‑display fingerprint sensor
  • Hi‑Res audio support
  • IP68 dust and water resistance
  • Optional magnetic battery that wirelessly charges the phone (compatible only with the Xiaomi 17, not the Ultra due to the larger camera bump)

Overall, the Xiaomi 17 offers a clean glass design, solid performance, and a versatile camera setup, making it a compelling flagship option.
