This is the third “Patch Tuesday” release for version 25H2. Because it is based on version 24H2, the same fixes apply to both Windows 11 versions.

What’s New in the February 2026 Patch Tuesday Update

After installing today’s security updates, Windows 11 25H2 (KB5077181) will be updated to Build 26200.7840 (or 26100.7840 for 24H2). Windows 11 23H2 (KB5073455) will be updated to 226x1.6050.

The update is primarily a collection of bug fixes. Below is a summary of the changes.

🎮 Gaming

  • Fixed an issue that incorrectly determined device eligibility for the full‑screen gaming experience.

🌐 Networking

  • Fixed a problem that prevented some devices from connecting to certain WPA3‑Personal Wi‑Fi networks.
    • The issue could appear after installing KB5074105.

🔐 Secure Boot

  • Quality updates now include a broad set of targeting data that identifies devices and their ability to receive new Secure Boot certificates.
  • Devices receive the new certificates only after they show sufficient successful update signals, ensuring a safe, phased rollout.

📱 Cross‑Device Resume (New!)

  • Expands the functionality first introduced in the May 2025 non‑security update (KB5058499).
  • You can continue activities from your Android phone on your PC, including:
    • Resuming Spotify playback.
    • Continuing work in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
    • Picking up a browsing session.

Supported Android phones – Vivo, HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, and Xiaomi.

  • Files opened in the Microsoft Copilot app on the phone can be resumed in the corresponding Microsoft 365 app on the PC (or in the default web browser if the app isn’t installed).
  • Offline files stored only on the phone are not supported.

🎹 Windows MIDI Services (New!)

  • Enhanced support for MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0:
    • Full WinMM and WinRT MIDI 1.0 support with built‑in translation.
    • Shared MIDI ports across apps, custom port names, loopback, and app‑to‑app MIDI.
    • Performance improvements and bug fixes.

The App SDK and Tools package – a separate download that enables inbox MIDI 2.0 features and includes tools such as MIDI Console and MIDI Settings.

🗣️ Narrator (New!)

  • More granular control over how on‑screen controls are announced.
  • Choose which details are spoken and adjust their order to match your navigation flow, reducing unnecessary speech.

⚙️ Settings (New!)

  • A Device card now appears on the Settings home page, showing key specifications and usage details.
  • Tap the card to go directly to Settings > System > About for more information.
  • The card appears when you sign in with a Microsoft account.
  • Rollout resumed after being paused during the August 2025 release.

🛡️ Smart App Control (New!)

  • You can now enable or disable Smart App Control (SAC) without a clean‑install requirement.
  • Path: Windows Security > App & Browser Control > Smart App Control.
  • When enabled, SAC blocks untrusted or potentially harmful apps.

👤 Windows Hello (New!)

  • Enhanced Sign‑in Security (ESS) now supports peripheral fingerprint sensors.
  • Extends the more secure sign‑in option to desktops and other Windows 11 PCs (including Copilot+ devices).
